Wilbert H. Granger, 70, of Nekoosa, Wis., and formerly of Kendall died Monday, June 18, 2012, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home, King, Wis.

He was born Nov. 21, 1941, to Willard and Charlotte (Dorn) Granger in the town of Wellington. He graduated from Kendall High School in 1960. Wilbert proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He worked for more than 38 years at the paper mills in Wisconsin Rapids. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting for bear, deer, small game and a variety of different birds.

He is survived by his step-mom, Phyllis Nelson; a brother-in-law, Roger Zinke of Robinson, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Dianna Granger of Kendall; his nieces and nephews, Michelle, Daneka, Danielle, Dave, Rhonda, Randy, Ryan, Jeff and Darrin; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Frank, Gordon and La Mont; a sister, Darlene Zinke; and an infant brother, Ronald.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 22, at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, South Ridge.Pastor Conrad Prell will officiate. Burial will be in South Ridge Lutheran Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the church. The Smith-Nelson Funeral Home, Kendall, is assisting the family with arrangements.
