Vernon County Sheriff’s Report for Nov. 23–29

Tuesday, Nov. 24: Robert Evans of Viroqua was traveling westbound on Helgeson Road in the town of Jefferson, pulling a trailer, when he lost control on the snow- and slush-covered road.  The vehicle slid across the intersection of Nedland Lane, went off the left side of the road, traveled down an embankment, and struck several evergreen trees. Evans and his passenger, William Schlabaugh of Chaseburg, did not report any injuries. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

Tuesday, Nov. 24: Rebecca James of Hillsboro was traveling northbound on Ridge Road in the town of Hillsboro when she lost control on the slippery road, went into the ditch, and struck a fence. James did not report any injuries at the time of the accident. The vehicle was towed, sustaining minor damage.

Tuesday, Nov. 24: Ivan Arendt of Chaseburg stated that he had been traveling eastbound on Dodson Hollow Road in the town of Coon when another vehicle came around the corner in his lane of travel. To avoid a collision, he had entered the westbound lane and continued off of the road, striking a tree, according to Arendt. The evidence at the scene supported Arendt’s statement. Arendt did not have any apparent injuries. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

Tuesday, Nov. 24: Eric Thunstedt of Chaseburg was traveling northbound on Hohlfeld Road in the town of Hamburg when he lost control on the slushy road, went off the road, and struck a fence and a tree. Thunstedt received no apparent injuries. The vehicle had disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
