Two sustained injuries Friday in a crash on Highway 33, near the lower-park entrance of Wildcat Mountain State Park, according to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.
Glenn Tews, 71, of Lodi, Wis., was traveling west on Highway 33 when he failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the centerline, and struck an eastbound vehicle driven by Judith Eness, 74, of La Farge. A passenger in the Eness vehicle, Sue Rego, 55, of Ontario, received minor injuries.
Ontario EMS transported Eness and her passenger, Sue Rego, 55, of rural Ontario, to Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua. Both had non-life-threatening injuries, and both were treated and released.
Treated and released at the scene, Tews refused medical transport. He was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
The airbags were deployed in Tews’ vehicle. All occupants were wearing their seatbelts.
The Ontario Fire Department, the Ontario Police Department, and the Kickapoo Valley Reserve Police Department also provided assistance at the scene. The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
