Theodore (Ted) William Welch, 78, a resident of Wilton, Wis., went up the hill to his eternal home on Sunday, March 13, 2022. Ted was born to Zora and James Welch in Tomah, Wis., and moved to Wilton when he started school. Ted graduated from Wilton High School in the class of 1962 and went on to attend Coleman Technical Institute in La Crosse, Wis. He then married Mary Dwyer in 1968 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Kendall, Wis. Ted worked for Northern Engraving for 41 years.

Ted lived his life like a good Irish lad. He was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Wilton. For many years, he could be seen mowing the grass and trimming the church and cemetery grounds.  He loved to tell stories, drink a cold beer, sit on the porch, and occasionally get into a little mischief. It is rumored that the antics of the Welch boys may have found their way into the Smithsonian magazine.  Gathering with friends and family was something that he enjoyed. He was blessed to have married his best friend, Mary. The two of them traveled and spent time supporting the hobbies and sporting events of the many Welch/Dwyer kids. In our family, “Ted and Mary” became one word.

Ted is survived by his wife, Mary; his siblings, Kathleen (Kay) Harrison of Sparta, Tom (Mary) Welch of Tomah, Mary Moore of Kentucky, and Tim (Donna) Welch of Wilton; his sister-in-law, Nancy Welch; his brothers-in-law, Pat (Rita) Dwyer, Norm Smith, Casey Campton; his nieces and nephews, Pat Welch, Jim Welch, Tierney (Randy) Grutza, Don (Jane) Harrison, Chris (Jennifer) Welch, Tammy (Huey) Zoroufy, Tiffany (Daniel) Neely, Jennifer Moore, Lauren Moore, Cassie (Greg) Sedlacek, Allison (Troy) Schindler, Patricia (Jerry) Reller, Michael (Lori) Madden, Terrence (Tammy) Madden, Laureen (Mark) Winger, Joseph (Caroline) Madden, Renee Smith-McCracken, Lisa Lutz, Robert (Cory ) Smith, Connie (Rick) Mueller, Shelley (Matt) Weber, Ronette (Roger) Johnson, Wade (Angie) Dwyer, Beth (Tim) Jerome , Robert (Marcy) Dwyer and Cathleen Wildes; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Ted was predeceased by his parents, James and Zora Welch; his brother, Pat; his brothers-in-law, Charles (Chuck) Moore and Edward Gregory Dwyer; his sisters-in-law, Roberta (Joe) Madden, Colette Smith, LeNoir (James) Weibel, Nancy (Keith) Gibney, Bonita Campton; and his nieces and nephews, Lisa Grey, Linda Welch, Cathleen Madden, Sarah Moore, and Gregory Weibel.
