Shirley Jean Kuderer, 82, of Summit Ridge, rural Norwalk, passed to her eternal rest Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Center in Sparta. 

She was born Feb. 29, 1928, to Godfred and Louise (Servais) Hansen in Camp Douglas. On Sept. 17, 1946, she married Hilbert “Hilly” Kuderer at St. John’s Catholic Church in Wilton.

Hilly and Shirley worked together raising their seven children on the family farm. Shirley was a loving, hard-working woman who was devoted to her family. Mom faced life’s difficulties, adversities, challenges and changes with grace, faith and quiet resiliency. We were blessed just being in her presence.

Shirley is survived by four sons, Jerome (Merry) Kuderer of Norwalk, Don Kuderer of La Crosse, and Anton and John Kuderer of Norwalk; two daughters, Bernadette (Jim) Rynes of Ontario and Julie Kuderer of Tomah; one sister-in-law, Veronica Kuderer of Sparta; eight grandchildren, Steve Rynes, Gene (Annaliece) Rynes, Mike (Andi) Rynes, Kristina Rynes and Kathryn (Jerry) Johnson, and Christopher, Jason and Justin Kuderer; five great-grandchildren, Morgen, Paige, Walker, Zoey and Tanner Rynes; two brothers, Clayton (Marian) Hansen of Clifton and Norman Hansen of Sparta; along with other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilly; one son, Robert; her parents; two brothers, Charles and Robert Hansen; six sisters, Georgina Statter, Beverly (George) Tatnall, Caroline (Louis) Schaub, Freida Doyle-Manley (Emmet Doyle and Harvey Manley), Mayme (John) Schaub, Lucille (Gerald) O’Gara and Elizabeth Goetz; brothers- and sister-in-law, George Kuderer, Richard (Marie) Kuderer and Isabel Hansen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Summit Ridge, rural Norwalk. Father Richard Dickman and Father Keith Kitzhaber will be the officiants. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 4–6 p.m. Sunday at the Torkelson Page-Smith Funeral Home in Sparta. Rosary will be prayed at 5:45 p.m. at the funeral home in Sparta. Visitation will also be from 9:30 a.m. until services Monday at the church.
