Shirley A. Wright, 88, of Sparta and formerly of Wilton passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2022, at the Morrow Home in Sparta. 

She was born Dec. 5, 1934, to Harold and Carrie (White) Rohrig in Oelwein, Iowa. She attended high school in Oelwein. She furthered her education and obtained a degree as an administrative assistant. In 1955, Shirley was united in marriage to Robert L. Wright. Throughout the years, aside from being a wife and homemaker, she worked at the VA Medical Center in Tomah, a staffing agency in Tomah, and the Brookwood library. She enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing and spending time with family. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. She will be remembered for her hard work, dedication to others, the life of giving, and her humor and laugh. 

She is survived by her children, Barbara (David Anderson) of Wilton, Cindy O’Rourke of Wilton, Kathy (Joseph) Laskowski of Hillsboro, Nancy Olson of Hillsboro, and Matthew (Samantha) Wright of Ontario, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; a son, Larry Dean; a son-in-law, Mark O’Rourke; and a granddaughter, Abigail Todd. 

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, at the Smith-Nelson Funeral Home, 702 Center St., Wilton. Pastor Jacob Limpert will officiate. Burial will be in the South Ridge Lutheran Cemetery in the town of Wellington. Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
