A hit-and-run crash occurred late Saturday night, Sept. 14, in Hillsboro, according to Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson and Hillsboro Chief of Police Patrick Clark.
At about 11:45 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office 911 Dispatch Center began receiving calls reporting that a vehicle had struck multiple legally parked vehicles on Water Avenue in downtown Hillsboro. The operator of the striking vehicle did not stop and was last seen traveling north on Water Avenue.
At about 12:15 a.m., a vehicle matching the description of the striking vehicle, a gray, 2022 GMC Sierra pickup truck, was located at a different location in the northeast corner of the city. The investigation continued and the operator was identified as Dylan Robert Allen Kuester, 30, of Schofield, Wis., and he was taken into custody at about 12:45 a.m.
Alcohol was a contributing factor, and Kuester submitted to an evidentiary chemical testing. Kuester was later released to a responsible person and scheduled to appear in Vernon County Circuit Court on Oct. 8 at 8:30 a.m. Formal charges are being sought through Vernon County District Attorney Angela Palmer-Fisher.
Torgerson and Clark would “like to thank the diligent work and collaboration between the sheriff’s office, Hillsboro Police, Hillsboro Fire Department, Hillsboro Area Ambulance, and the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office.”
