Ruth Elizabeth (Falke) Vieregge, 96, of Norwalk passed away at Rolling Hills Rehab Center in Sparta on Friday, May 16, 2014.
Ruth was born June 27, 1917, to Franklin Edward and Martha Caroline (Schuele) Falke on the home farm in Spring Valley, Wis. She was united in marriage to Orland Ardean Vieregge, and together they farmed on the family farm outside Norwalk.
Ruth was a social butterfly who loved to visit with family and friends, but even more, she loved helping others. She was proudly involved with the Monroe County 4-H for 37 years as a leader. She also was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society. Ruth also did beautiful work crocheting, quilting and sewing. She had a green thumb and loved her plants, but most of all, Ruth cherished and adored her family.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Janet (Jim) Schreier, Joyce Noffke and Joan (Bruce) Hutchens; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; along with other relatives and friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Orland, in 1983; her parents; a son, Kenneth Vieregge; a sister and brother-in-law, Mae (Donald) Krieger; a grandson, Todd Schreier; a great-grandson, Matthew West; a son-in-law, Gary Noffke; and a brother and sister-in-law, Owen (Louise) Vieregge.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 19, at Immanuel United Methodist Church of Norwalk, with Pastor Theresa Amberson officiating. Burial will follow in Wanderer’s Rest Cemetery in rural Norwalk. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 3–6 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at the church. Visitation also will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Monday. The Torkelson Page-Smith Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
