Royall School District coach Ross Friedl recently was honored by the Wisconsin Wrestling Coaches Association and named District 3 Assistant Wrestling Coach of the Year for his work with youth and middle school programs.
He was nominated by the coach from Whitehall.
According to a press release submitted by the Royall School District, “Ross is one of the key people at Royall wrestling. He is a long-time youth coach, organizing and holding many practices for his beloved Panthers. Many of these young wrestlers ended up being the backbone of their high school team and have been state qualifiers.
“Ross activities have been good for the whole of wrestling in this area of the state because of his willingness to promote/host events and to try to provide good experiences for all of the wrestlers (even from other wrestling programs) who participate in those events. He went above and beyond in this Covid season in providing opportunities for kids to wrestle and worked with coaches from other schools to make that happen in a safe and productive way.”
