The Royall School District will host two public meetings in March on its $10.9 million referendum, which will appear on the ballot in the April 5 election and will ask district residents to approve a range of building upgrades.

The meetings are set for 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 7, and 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at the Royall Middle School LMC.

Though Superintendent Mark Gruen has accepted a position with the Johnson Creek School District, he said he remains concentrated on Royall’s referendum efforts. “Our main focus right now at Royall is to educate our entire community on the benefits of the upcoming referendum,” adding that over his 12 years with the district, he “never shirked this place of time.”

The referendum includes the following items:

• Construction of a secure entrance and offices to connect the middle/high school to the elementary school

• Construction of a multipurpose gymnasium and performing arts center addition to the middle/high school

• Conversion of the middle school gymnasium into a multipurpose room

• Classroom renovations, code, capital maintenance and ADA compliance updates

• Site improvements

• Acquisition of related furnishings, fixtures and equipment
