Ronald James Bloor, 81, of Kendall, Wis., and formerly of Mount Tabor, Wis., passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the Tomah VA Medical Center. He was born Oct. 16, 1941, in “Johnny Cake,” an area between Ontario and Mount Tabor, to Floyd and Mabel (Sullivan) Bloor.

Ron attended high school in Kendall and served proudly in the United States Army from 1959–1964. Ron married Patricia Mountford in 1975. Although they later divorced, Pat’s children remained close to him. He later married Claudia “Odette” Crouch LeChevalier in 1984. They lived most of their married life in the Mount Tabor area until her death in 2018. He held various jobs over the years, including driving truck, but his most rewarding and skilled job was being a welder/fabricator. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and motorcycle rider, a proud member of the DAC, and especially enjoyed rewatching old westerns and anything sports-related. Ron’s favorite thing to do was to be a prankster, and he continued to do this up until the day before he passed away. He truly loved socializing with his family and friends.

Ron is survived by his brothers, Bill (Nancy) Bloor of Mount Tabor, Wis., and Steve (Wanda) Bloor of Hillsboro, Wis.; his sisters, Maxine Ratajczyk of Tomah, Wis., Valetta Jensen of Tomah, Wis., Patty Stanek of Waunakee, Wis., Sherry (Larry) Clark of Hillsboro, Wis., and Myra (Chris) Anderson of Tomah, Wis.; his stepchildren, Dan (Carmen) Kiefer, Theresa (Brian) Crawford, Dee (Smitty) Smith, Rodney (Lesly) Curtis, Shelia (Tom) Nelson, and Gary (Linda) Burch; his sisters-in-law, Alana New and Letitia Thornton; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. It may seem like a nontraditional family unit from the outside, but Theresa’s bond with her stepfather was no different than if they’d been related by blood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Mabel Bloor; his brothers, Tom Bloor and Michael Bloor; his brothers-in-law, Don Ratajczyk, Don Jensen, Bernie Stanek, Herb Crouch, and Terry Crouch; his sisters-in-law, Pat Bloor, Julie Bolden, LaVerne Painter, Marlene Griffith, and Doris Stockton; and his stepsons, Dennie Burch and Timmie Burch.

Memorial services for Ron will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 16, at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will be held at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Mount Tabor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tomah VA Hospice. The Torkelson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be offered at www.torkelsonfuneralhome.com.
