Ronald F. Holtet Sr.

Ronald F. Holtet Sr., 79, of Ontario died Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at the Vernon Manor in Viroqua. 

He was born April 28, 1944, to Floyd and Marceline (Hegenbart) Holtet in Dell, Wis. On May 23, 1971, Ronald was united in marriage to Nancy L. Herman. She preceded him in death Aug. 23, 2021. Ron spent most of his life farming or trucking and sometimes a little of both. He was the owner/operator of Holtet Trucking, mostly hauling milk and lumber for the Amish. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and playing cards. He will be missed by those who loved him. 

He is survived by his children, Ronald “Ron” F. Holtet, Jr. (significant other Becky) and Jerry (Cindy) Birch; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Marlene Flock, Donna Sykora and Cindy (Dale) Price. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy; his grandson, Chad Birch; his infant sister, Mary; his sister, Pat Creviston; and his brothers-in-law, James Herman, Joe Flock and Jim Sykora. 

A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, May 22, at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., Tomah. Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation on Monday at the funeral home from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Wilton at a later date. Roger attended Davis School in rural Viroqua, and then graduated from Viroqua High School in 1972.
