Patricia Mae Learman, 84, of Norwalk, formerly of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Morrow Memorial Home, surrounded by her family.
She was born to Edward H. Warner and Hazel I. (Head) Warner on July 25, 1928, in Norfolk, Neb.
Her family moved to Dubuque, Iowa, when she was 3 years old. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School and continued her education at Bayless Business College. She worked as a receptionist at R.S. Bacon Veneer for 22 years. She then worked at Bethany Home for 10 years, until she retired. She was an avid bowler, nature lover, and euchre and fifer master. She also loved animals and reading a good book.
Patricia is survived by her two daughters, Laura (Harry) Maule and Linda (Learman) Schnee; her grandchildren, Lisa (Bob) Frommelt, Lori (Kory) Ihde, Lucas Learman, Marion Learman, Natalie (Mike) Horch, Nichole Schnee and Nina Schnee; her great-grandchildren, Aleece Anglese, Jackson Horch, Matthew Horch and Ellison Lovas; her niece, Jeanne Herkes; two nephews, John (Margot) Herkes and Jerry Herkes; and many more nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Ada Herkes; her son, Leonard Learman; and her granddaughter, Lindsay Mae (Punky Doodle) Learman.
Her family would like to thank Izzy Ziegler, Barb Brockman, Bev Graunke and Shirley Degenhardt for being there for Patricia and being such wonderful friends and her card-playing friends at the Senior Center in Norwalk. The family would also like to thank Dr. Woodward, the staff at Mayo Clinic Health System-Sparta and Morrow Memorial Home for the wonderful care given to Patricia.
A celebration of her life will be Saturday, May 25, at her daughter Laura’s home, where a euchre and fifer tournament will be played and her favorite ice cream drumsticks will be enjoyed.
