O’Tillia Rose “Tillie” (Pallister) Thorson, 96, of Elroy passed away Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Elroy.

Tillie was born Oct. 3, 1914, to William and Mary Pallister on a farm near Trippville in Vernon County. On June 11, 1933, Tillie was united in marriage to Raymond Thorson in Waukegan, Ill. Together they farmed in the town of Clifton before moving to Elroy in 1964. She was a very active member of Fountain Lutheran Church. No one could leave Tillie’s house without a cup of coffee and homemade cookies. Her holiday meals, kolotches and Norwegian kling are fondly remembered.

Survivors include a daughter, Darlene (Norman) Olson of Madison; a daughter-in-law, Donna Thorson of Kendall; five grandchildren, Kristin (Richard) Bransford of Plymouth, Minn., Eric Olson of University Park, Md., Lynette (Jerry) Schwartz of Wilton, Daniel (Amy) Thorson of Kimberly, Wis., and Ronald (Tammy) Thorson of Kendall; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, June Thayer of DeForest, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; a son, Duane; and three brothers, Rudolph, Frank, and James.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, at Fountain Lutheran Church, rural Kendall, with Pastor Ronald Nowland officiating. Burial will follow in Fountain Lutheran Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the church from 10:30 a.m. until time of the service.

Memorials may be given in Tillie’s memory to Fountain Lutheran Church.
