An Ontario man who was arrested Friday faces accusations that he recently sold heroin to two individuals who overdosed.

Jesse J. Jensen of Ontario was apprehended at his Church Street address and transported to the Vernon County Detention Center. Two charges — second-degree reckless injury and possession with intent to deliver heroin — were referred to the Vernon County District Attorney’s Office.

Neither of the overdoses was fatal; both occurred in Ontario, said Ontario Police Chief Dave Rynes.

The following agencies assisted the Ontario Police Department: the Wilton Police Department, the Elroy Police Department, the Hillsboro Police Department, the Ho-Chunk Nation Police Department, the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department, the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department Dispatch Center, the Ontario Ambulance Service, Ontario Public Works, the Vernon County District Attorney’s Office, and Vernon County Human Services.

The human services department was needed because two minors were in the house at the time of the arrest, Rynes said. And because the situation at the house was unknown (for example, police did not know whether firearms or dogs were present), a multitude of departments were involved in the arrest, he added.

Rynes concluded in a press release, “Thanks to the citizens of the village of Ontario. Without their diligent actions, this search warrant would not have occurred.”
