Serving at a new location this year, the Ontario Legion Auxiliary will host its annual waffle dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Brookwood High School gymnasium.

The Ontario Community Hall, the usual venue for the event, was severely damaged in the Aug. 28 floods that tore across southwest Wisconsin.

Dad’s Belgian Waffles of Algona, Iowa, will supply the food for the evening. Tickets are $5 a piece in advance and $6 at the door, plus meals will be offered at no cost to veterans.

The Ontario American Legion Hall, a century-old schoolhouse, also sustained significant damages in the Aug. 28 floods. About 6 feet of water entered the building, damaging the kitchen, interior and exterior walls, the floor, exterior concrete slabs, the furnace and bathrooms.

Legion members hope to restore the structure and have set up a GoFundMe page at www.gofundme.com/rebuild-american-legion-post-467.
