Logan Ferries, a 17-year-old rural Norwalk teenager, was killed in a hunting accident in the town of Whitestown early Sunday, according to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.

At about 7:30 a.m., two teenagers, Ferries and a 15-year-old, were going hunting on private land off Pisgah Road. As they left their vehicle and were getting ready for the hunt, a 22-caliber pistol was accidentally discharged. Struck in the side and chest area, Ferries was pronounced dead at the scene by Vernon County Coroner Janet Reed.

The Ontario Fire Department, the Ontario Ambulance Service, Tri-State Med Link, the Vernon County Coroner, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources provided assistance at the scene. The DNR is investigating the accident.
