The Elroy Link, a new publication that will focus on Elroy news and events, is being introduced the first week of April.
The first/trial edition of the newsletter will be free of charge upon request. Elroy area residents Mary Waarvik, Cindy Mueller and Kelly Lambesis are working on The Elroy Link.
When asked why they decided to work on a local news publication, Waarvik commented, “We felt there was still a need for an upbeat newspaper in paper format — to help Elroy people keep abreast of local news and events.”
The first issue is free and will be distributed through a team of volunteers, and when requested, to anyone in the Elroy area desiring a paper. If interested in having a free copy of The Elroy Link, you are asked to email the editors at elroy.wisc.newspaper@gmail.com so that one may be provided.
“We only ask that anyone receiving a copy complete an attached survey so we know if there is interest in Elroy for a paper,” Waarvik added.
Mueller and Lambesis are also part of The Elroy Link team. When asked why a newsletter format, Mueller said, “The format allows us to use software we are familiar with, which is a big plus when starting a new venture.”
The frequency of publication for The Elroy Link will depend on survey results.
“It could be monthly, bi-weekly or eventually weekly,” Mueller said.
