Greetings to everyone in Falcon Country! It’s been a fast nine weeks of the third quarter, and our students have been in school for over 127 days!

Travis Anderson

The school year continues to go very well, and our students and staff are consistently working very hard on the pursuit of excellence. Our students continue to accomplish so many great things at Brookwood and their learning extends far beyond the daily class periods and school grounds.

During the third quarter of the 2022–2023 school year, students at Brookwood have competed in Gifted and Talented academic competitions, chess club tournaments, state athletic competitions, acapella choir group competitions, literacy competitions, forensics events, instrumental and vocal music competitions, math competitions, tons of other co-curricular events, and much more while being very successful in all of those extensions of the classroom activities!

We even had an elementary school student win a national writing contest, another elementary student placed second amongst over 70 participants at a fifth-grade math knowledge team event, and 100% of our students attended to take the ACT Exam!

WOW, Brookwood students and staff are doing great, and we can all be very proud of their teamwork and success. It’s important to note that not only are the successes of our students impressive, but also the effort and extra energy our staff puts forth every day to provide additional opportunities, guidance, and resources that propel our students onto the path of success is extremely impressive as well.  Great job, staff and students!

As we move into the fourth quarter of the school year, one very important date coming up is Tuesday, April 4. This is the day our school referendum option is determined by our local voters. It has been an enjoyable process getting to know so many more people in our community through the referendum discussions and committee meetings, and it’s obvious that our school holds a special spot in the hearts of our community members.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out to gather information to learn about our referendum and grant opportunities the school has in place. Thank you as well to all of you who attended one of the many referendum information sessions held in our three villages and our sessions held at the school to learn about the great opportunities that can help make our school a destination for education.

The fourth quarter is also a time to start new co-curricular activities and seasons, but I wanted to take a moment to thank all of our winter co-curricular volunteers, coaches, referees, event workers, concession workers, bus drivers, custodians, and everyone else who helped make our winter seasons run smoothly. Your efforts and tireless work to help give our kids opportunities to grow never goes unnoticed!

Our school slogan this year is “Believe and Achieve,” and this couldn’t be a more perfect slogan for this school year. As we work through the fourth quarter of the 2022-2023 school year together, I want to thank our parents, staff, and community for their teamwork that continues to allow us to achieve common goals together. As we follow our slogan, “Believe and Achieve,” the results of our school year show a direct correlation that if you believe it, you can achieve it.

Hopefully I’ll see you around the school sometime soon at an event, and I encourage everyone to attend any and all events at Brookwood. You’ll be glad you did! Have a great spring, and enjoy the spring weather!
