See the North Pole come to life again this holiday season with a new exhibit at the Monroe County Local History Room.
The “Christmas Mountain” display features more than 100 illuminated miniature buildings depicting the magic, mystery, and childhood innocence of the North Pole. From the reindeer stables to the various candy shops and elf workshops, this enchanting and whimsical display embodies the wonder of Christmas for visitors young and old.
This layout features the North Pole Holiday Village collection of the late Joan Cook of Sparta. Cook was a promoter of Monroe County history and a fan of theholidays.
An opening reception for the exhibit will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19. The collection will be on display through Saturday, Jan. 18. Museum admission is free.
The Local History Room is located at 200 W. Main St. in Sparta. Regular museum hours are from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
