A Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputy was placed on administrative leave after his Tuesday arrest in a domestic-violence incident in rural Camp Douglas, according to Monroe County Sheriff Wesley Revels.

Calling the Monroe County 911 Center at 5:37 p.m. Tuesday, a woman provided the initial information on the incident, which involved Monroe County deputy Jesse Murphy. Supervisory staff from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the request, immediately requesting investigative assistance from the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office. The latter department led the investigation.

Murphy was arrested at about 10 p.m. Tuesday on charges of domestic-abuse-related disorderly conduct and battery and was transported to the Juneau County Jail. He has been relieved from duty and will remain on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation, which will begin immediately.
