Mildred O. “Mid” (Sullivan) Witt, 93, of Tomah passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at Cranberry Court in Tomah.

She was born May 21, 1918, to Oden and Nelda (Johnson) Berg in Vernon County.

Mid was united in marriage to Daniel James Sullivan on Jan. 4, 1938. They farmed for several years. She also began working at Callaway Bag Company and Tillman Produce in Wilton as well as at several other jobs. In 1971, she moved to Lake Mills, Wis., where she worked for Willow Brook Nursing Home. She then worked at Schweiger Furniture Company, from which she retired from in 1978. She later married Reuben Witt on June 3, 1978. They hobby farmed for 10 years in Coloma, Wis. They then moved to Sparta.

In January 2005, she moved to Tomah, and in January 2007, she moved to Assisted Living at Cranberry Courts, where she resided until her death. Mid enjoyed writing in her journal daily and writing letters to her family and friends. She also enjoyed crocheting doilies, playing cards, listening to country music and working in her flower garden.

Mid cherished all of your visits and conversations. Her faith in God carried her through many trying times. Best of all, she so loved her children, her grandchildren and families; they were her life, and she was theirs.

She is survived by her children, Bob (Marion) Sullivan of Janesville, Patricia (Jerome) Von Haden of Tomah and Terry (Lana) Sullivan of Janesville; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; eight stepchildren and their families; her sisters-in-law, Jeanette Berg, Ruby Berg, Pat Sullivan, Sister Gertrude Sullivan, Kay Sullivan, Jane Giese, Marie Brueggen and Peg Laufenberg; her brothers-in-law, Harry Brueggen and Harlen (Mary) Witt; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oden and Nelda; her husbands, Daniel James Sullivan and Reuben Witt; her sisters, Nora and Norma; her brothers, Marvin, Lawrence, Arden and Donald; a grandchild, Patrick Sullivan; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Helen (George) Schmitz, Louise (Kenneth) Ducke, Richard Pearse, Lucille (Chester) Schermerhorn, Myrtle (Dick) Thomas, Dorothy (Clifford) Pipp, Jeremias (Gena) Sullivan, Everett Giese, Sylvester Laufenberg, Roger Sullivan, Tommy Sullivan, Caroline (Robert) Bertoline, Norbert Witt and Leona Garcia.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilton. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Wilton. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 2–4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah.
