Local villages will host the following Memorial Day services.
Kendall
Contributed by Doug Rogalla, Kendall American Legion Commander
All too often, Americans take our freedoms for granted. “Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it.” —unknown
Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in service of the United States of America. We remember those brave souls who paid the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our freedoms.
The William J. Schriver American Legion Post 309 in Kendall will again honor the sacrifices of our veterans on Memorial Day (Monday, May 27).
Please join us at St. Luke’s Cemetery at 10 a.m., Fountain Lutheran Church/Cemetery at 11 a.m., and the Kendall Area Veterans Memorial at 1 p.m. Join us for a light lunch and fellowship afterward at the Kendall Legion Hall.
Our guest speaker will be Lt. Col. Michael J. Corkum, Fort McCoy, Garrison Deputy Commander.
