Maxine O. Turk, 93, formerly of Wilton, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.
She was born Oct. 18, 1917, to William H. Budde and Carrie A. (Jacobson) Budde at Whitestown, Wis. She graduated from Sparta High School. Blessed with high energy and a strong work ethic, she was a fast worker and always did her job right. She worked first as a cashier at Marshall Field’s. As a military wife, she traveled extensively in Germany, Ethiopia and several states, including Alaska, New Mexico, Arizona, Massachusetts and California. She loved to entertain her family and friends and loved to dance. She was a gracious hostess and always made everyone feel welcome in her home. As a homemaker, she enjoyed and excelled at baking, sewing, gardening and cooking, and she shared her skills by always giving. She took occasional part-time jobs, and she really enjoyed her last job as a crossing guard in La Crosse. She was good to visit those in nursing homes and other shut-ins.
Mrs. Turk is survived by her two children, Dixie Priesing of Dallas and Eric (Sue) Mullins of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two grandchildren, Brent Kincaid and Kristina Kyle; two great-grandchildren; three brothers and a sister; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by husbands, Francis D. Mullins and Claire L. Turk.
A funeral service was Tuesday, Jan. 25, at the Smith-Nelson Funeral Home, 702 Center St., Wilton. Pastor Kay Wold officiated. Burial was in the Hilltop Rest Cemetery, Ontario. Online condolences may be given at www.sonnenburgfamilyfh.com.
