Marjorie Jeanette Cass, 84, passed away at her home in Ontario, surrounded by her family, on Aug. 6, 2012.

She was born Aug. 16, 1927, to Claude and Mary (nee French) Cass in Vernon County. Marjorie attended and graduated from Ontario High School. She was a lifetime member of the Mount Pisgah Wesleyan Church, where she worked with children and teens for most of her adult life and loved every one of them.

In 1931, her family moved onto the family farm in rural Ontario and lived there until 1972, when they moved to Ontario. Marjorie worked at Hanson’s Department Store in Hillsboro until 1978, when she purchased a building up the street and started Marjorie’s Color Shop. She retired from the store in 1993, and then worked as a helper in the library of the Norwalk-Ontario-Wilton School District Elementary School. She was always laughing about things the children would say or do.

She is survived by her sister, Patty (Larry) Robinson of Ontario; her niece, Leeann (Harvey) Woods of Wisconsin Rapids; her nephew, Dennie Robinson of Ontario; and her grand-niece, Brittny (Charles) Harris of Trenton, Mich. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and all of her aunts and uncles.

A funeral service was Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Mount Pisgah Wesleyan Church, Ontario. Pastor Robert Streeter officiated. Burial was in the Hilltop Rest Cemetery. The Smith-Nelson Funeral Home, Wilton, assisted with arrangements. Online condolences may be given at www.sonnenburgfamilyfh.com.
