Margo Marie Degenhardt, 22, of rural Sparta passed away after a tragic automobile accident Tuesday, May 10, 2016.
Margo was born Sept. 16, 1993, to Ann (Kroeger) and David Degenhardt in La Crosse. She was a 2012 graduate from Sparta High School.
Margo was a competitive athlete. She spent all four years of high school on the Sparta BOYS wrestling team. She earned first three years in a row at girls state. During Margo’s senior year, she was ranked No. 1 in the nation at 152 pounds. Margo wrestled at nationals in Michigan, where she wrestled her way to second place.
She also was very involved in tennis, soccer and FBLA (future business leaders of America). After graduating from high school, she studied at Western Technical College in La Crosse for a year. Margo was not one to let the dust settle under her feet. She worked at Toys R Us, Kohl’s, Farm and Fleet, and the Walmart Distribution Center in Tomah for a few years, and then recently was promoted to produce department manager at the Walmart Super Center in Onalaska.
When Margo wasn’t working, she continued to be active with family and friends. She played softball and loved to go four-wheeling and listen to music. She was always ready to make some memories and find some adventures. She had a lot of tenderness, humor and character that everyone enjoyed about her. But the strong, affectionate, relationship with her mom, dad and brothers was a true, genuine, love. Her family and friends could always count on a big Margo hug whenever they saw her. Margo’s contagious laugh revealed her love for life.
Margo is survived by her parents, Ann and David of rural Sparta; her brothers, Quincy (Neca Stussy) and Logan Degenhardt, both of rural Sparta; her grandma, Harriet Kroeger of Sparta; her aunts and uncles, Karl (Julie) Kroeger, Jeff Kroeger, Jerry (Char) Miller, Denise Degenhardt, Ron Degenhardt, Tom (Judy) Degenhardt and Michelle Degenhardt; her cousins, Miranda, Joe, Jill, Matt, Nick, Bubba, Brian, Heidi, Cody, Erin, Tess, Cassie and Brandon; along with many other cousins, relatives and dear friends.
