The Juneau County Extension office will offer youth Tractor and Machinery Safety training from June 29 to July 15.
Online classes will be from July 6–9, and the testing will be July 15. Children must be 12 or older to participate and must attend all four days of classes (8–10:30 a.m.), do online classwork, practice driving and complete driving and written tests.
The enrollment deadline is June 24.
Wisconsin state law (Act 455) requires that any youth from 12–16 who operates a tractor or self-propelled equipment on the highway for a parent must successfully complete a Tractor and Machinery Safety program. The U.S. Department of Labor and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (require that youth from 14–16 who work for a non-parent must complete an approved farm safety course. Class participants younger than 14 will receive their federal certificate after they turn 14.

The 2020 Wisconsin Safe Operation of Tractor and Machinery Certification Program will be offered using independent study, online training and in-person training. These modifications have been made in response to the coronavirus pandemic. For the online training, instructors will use Zoom and Google Drive. Classroom information will be shared using email and Google Drive.
