Lynn E. Evans, 53, of Wilton, died on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, at The Serenity House in Tomah after a very brave battle with stomach cancer.
She was born on April 23, 1971, to Ronald and Julia (Fredrick) Schmitz in Wisconsin. Lynn grew up on St. Mary’s Ridge and was a member of the Cashton High School graduating class of 1989. After high school, she moved to Wilton to work as a nanny and at the vet clinic. This is how she met Randy Evans, and the two were united in marriage on April 25, 1992. She also worked for Capp’s in Tomah, Mathy Construction as a scale pit operator, and managed the Water Hole Tavern on St. Mary’s Ridge. In 1999, Lynn and Randy became the owner-operators of Wilton Bus Service. She also owned and operated Lynn’s Tupperware. Lynn enjoyed people and made friends with everyone. She volunteered her time as the treasurer for the Monroe County Snowmobile Club and was involved with Last Paw Rescue. In the eight years she volunteered there, she found over 200 dogs their forever homes. Lynn was a breast cancer survivor and became cancer free after her diagnosis in 2018. She was a fighter who had a very strong will and has dealt with complications from her stomach cancer for the last four years. She will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Randy Evans of Wilton; two sons, Nick and Brad Evans of Wilton; her father, Ronald Schmitz of St. Mary’s Ridge; her siblings, Tom (significant other, Denise) Schmitz of Norwalk, Rita (Randy) O’Niell of Cataract, Milton “Butch” Schmitz of Norwalk, Doug Schmitz of Norwalk, Connie (Larry) Ronke of Sparta and Nancy (significant other, Chris) Schmitz of Ontario; and her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Michelle (Marty) Fischer of Cottonville, Wis., Daniel (Jean) Evans of Manasha, Wis., and Jamie (Cori) Evans of Wilton. Lynn is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Julia Schmitz, and her brother Marvin Schmitz; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Duane “Speed” and Joy Evans; and her brother-in-law, Greg Evans.
A Prayer Service will be at 12 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at the Wilton Community Center, 400 East St, Wilton. Father John Ofori-Domah will officiate. Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation at the Wilton Community Center on Sunday, Sept. 29, from 3–7 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
