Lillian “Lil” Rose Pisha, 87, of Hillsboro and formerly of Kendall died Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Milestone Senior Living at Hillsboro.
She was born March 6, 1925, to Frank and Cecelia (Vlasak) Machovec on the family farm in the town of Glendale.She attended Sunnyside Elementary School.
On Aug. 24, 1948, she was united in marriage to Raymond Pisha at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Hillsboro.Together, Lillian and Ray farmed in the town of Glendale until 1990. In 2011, they relocated to the Hillsboro area.
She worked in the Tomah Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital dietary department until her retirement.Lil enjoyed traveling and visited Europe on a tour of France and the Czech Republic. She had on outgoing personality and enjoyed spending time visiting with her family and friends.
She especially enjoyed cooking. Grandma Pisha’s kitchen was always full of delicious bars and rolls made with special love for her grandchildren.
Lillian was a faithful member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the P.C.C.W. and the Town of Glendale Helpful Homemaker’s Club.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Raymond; two sons, Vincent (Helen) of Glenview, Ill., and Kevin (Kim) of Yelm, Wash.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Verbsky of Hillsboro; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Beverly Schumann; a granddaughter, Kari Pisha; and four brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 301 Spring St.,Kendall.Father Richard C. Dickman will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.Relatives and friends are invited to call from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Smith-Nelson Funeral Home, 112 E. South Railroad St., Kendall, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the church.
