Letter to the editor: Wilton community Christmas party should be an annual event

By LYDA LANIER | Ridgeville

I attended the Wilton community Christmas party Saturday night at the community center, sponsored by the Wilton Public Library and assisted by organizations in the Wilton community.

Along with everyone else, young and old, I had a very good time. There was a great variety of foods, including the delicious three-bean salad (the recipe from the library director’s mother) and dozens and dozens of cupcakes creatively decorated. Instrumental and vocal Christmas music from Brookwood High School’s music department furnished a background to lively conversations with friends and neighbors and provided the accompaniment for singing Christmas carols. Playing bingo, both adults and children won fabulous prizes. A good time was had by all. I hope this community event becomes an annual affair.

More than a year and a half after the expiration of his term, Dr. Frederick Prehn continues to occupy a seat on the Natural Resources Board, which sets policy for the state Department of Natural Resources. His refusal to step down has allowed him to cast the deciding vote in key decisions related to wildlife management, PFAS water quality standards, and land acquisition, with other important issues on the horizon.
