This is it! The final days of this most consequential 2020 election season are upon us. Record numbers of Americans have voted. But the most important voters are first-time voters and those who have chosen not to vote in the past. These important people hold the winning key.
here are distinct differences in thisyear’s candidates up and down the ballot. The most pressing question is whether or not we will be able to retain our democracy as it was intended to be or embrace a government like those that arose in European nations in the 1930s. For those familiar with the rise of European dictators prior to World War II, the incumbent presidential candidate and all of his enablers should stir alarming memories.
Just as Catholic and Protestant European church leaders supported the rise of dictators in their hatred of Jews, so many of today’s church leaders have obsessed over the single issue of abortion. Some church leaders continue to preach politics from their pulpits. Some have boldly proclaimed that “anyone who votes as a Democrat is going to hell.” An irresponsible declaration! Jesus never engaged in politics. He preached love, compassion, and forgiveness.
