The former Kendall Motors building, now owned by Mary Jo Hill of Kendall, was vandalized Sunday night. The spray-paint markings include “BLM” (Black Lives Matter) and “ACAB” (All Cops are Bastards). Some of the vandalism occurred at high points on the building walls, suggested the damage was done by adults or older children.
The building has not housed a business in some time. Hill was in the process of renovating the building in August 2018 when it was severely damaged in floodwaters. Now the building is on the FEMA buyout list. Otto Schroeder had started the Kendall auto dealership in 1929, with his son Carl later taking it over. Dave Heilman purchased the business from Carl Schroeder in 1986, selling it to Marty Koenecke in 2006. After a few years, Koenecke closed the dealership.
