Joyce Weed, 83, of Necedah passed away Friday, March 25, 2011, at Fairview Nursing Home in Mauston.
She was born Oct. 27, 1927, to Edward and Leone (Burdick) Burroughs in Tomah. Joyce was a 1945 graduate of Tomah High School. She later attended college at the La Crosse Business School. She was united in marriage to L. Duane Weed on Oct. 5, 1959.
Joyce was a passionate lover of all animals great and small. She enjoyed traveling with Duane, especially when they took the whole family to Aruba. She was a member of the New Lisbon Eastern Star, the Necedah Lions Club and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, L. Duane of Necedah; her children, Maria Lannes, Tom (Gina) LaBansky, Elaine (Barry) Thomas and Doug (Lisa) Weed; her grandchildren, Nell Justiliano, Rachel Thomas, Ali Thomas, and Miranda, Andrew and Zachary Weed; one great-grandchild, Marlo Justiliano; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Leone; her first husband, Arland LaBansky; and her sister, Beverly Burroughs.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Family and friends are invited for visitation at the funeral home from 4–7 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to services Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Joyce’s memory to Carl W.
