Joyce Marie (Von Ruden) Beier, 76, died at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg, Wis., on Oct. 23, 2024. She was a Wilton resident.
She was born April 2, 1948, in Sparta, Wis., to Lyle and Mary June (Calhoun) Von Ruden. She attended elementary school at Dorset Valley Country School and Wilton Elementary School, and she graduated from Royall High School in 1966. Joyce had planned to pursue a career in cosmetology, but life took her in another direction. She enjoyed people and worked in many different jobs in the service industry. But the job she most loved was being a mother to her only son, Shane. Joyce had a big heart and mothered many children over the years, opening her home and heart.
She married Lawrence (Pappy) Beier on Aug. 4, 1984. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sister, Debra (Norbert) Kuenzi of Beaver Dam, Wis.; her brothers, Donald (Toni) Von Ruden and David (Tonya Von Ruden) of Sparta; Heidi (Craig) Jackson of Sparks, Nev.; and seven nephews and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Beier; her son, Shane Bon Ruden; brothers and sisters-in-law; and her beloved cat, Anna Rose.
A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at the Wilton American Legion, 508 Walker St. Internment will be in St. John the Baptist. Cemetery in Wilton.
