Joel Oakly Dobbs, 26, of Ontario passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012, after a tragic tractor accident.
Joel was born May 30, 1986, to Scott and Sue (Carr) Dobbs in Hillsboro. He grew up on a farm outside of Ontario and graduated from Brookwood High School in 2004. After graduation, he attended college in Madison for agriculture for a year. He returned to the area to work on the Harvey Menn farm for a while before buying his own dairy herd.
Joel was born to farm. He had a passion for everything about farming, from the hard work and dirt to the dedication it takes to care for crops and a herd. Joel was the definition of easygoing; he didn’t sweat the small stuff, and nothing shook him up. His words were few, but his smile came easy. He was a kindhearted, gentle man who was a true friend to all who knew him. His friends and family take comfort in the knowledge that Joel’s time on earth, including his last minutes, were full of peace because he knew Jesus as his savior and that he is now with Him.
Joel is survived by his parents, Scott and Sue of Ontario; his sisters, Miriah (Nate) Noble of Minnesota and Sierra and Noel Dobbs, both of Ontario; his grandparents, Stacy and Margie Dobbs of Ontario and Leah Carr of New Carlisle, Ind.; his aunts and uncles, Cindy (Dobbs) Bjerokes of Eau Claire, Cheri (Bill) Hagerman of Ontario, Dave (Karen) Carr of Ontario, and Jim (Day) Carr, Dale (Nancy) Carr, Steve (Ina) Carr, Joe Carr, Ken (Tammie) Carr, all of Indiana; and many cousins, other relatives and good friends.
Joel was preceded in death by his grandpa, James William Carr.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, at the Ontario Community Hall, Ontario.Pastor Bruce Milleman and Ron Doll will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hilltop Rest Cemetery, Ontario.
