Jerelyn Joy (Zellmer) Felt, 76, of Onalaska died Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center after a short struggle with ALS.
She was born Jan. 14, 1938, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to Edward and Dorothy (Wadephul) Zellmer. She grew up in Wilton and graduated from Wilton High School in 1956. Jerelyn married Walter C. Felt on June 25, 1960, in Wilton.
Jerelyn was employed by the La Crosse Telephone Company before her children were born. Later, she went back to work at Hardees and then Wal-Mart for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Walter; her son, Greg (Jen Bantle-Felt), and their children, Jaymeson, Nola, and Ayden, of La Crosse; her daughter, Susan, and her son, Christopher, of Onalaska; her aunt, Irene Smith of Tomah; her brothers, Lowell (Arlys) Zellmer of Janesville and Stan (Ruth) Zellmer of Madison; her mother-in-law, Eileen Wright of La Crosse; her brother-in-law, Terry (Barb) Felt of La Crosse; her sister-in-law, Jane (David) Kruck of Wilmington, Ill.; and many nephews, nieces and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Jerelyn enjoyed keeping in touch with family and lifelong friends through Facebook and email and having lunch with her friends. She had a knack for finding and passing along articles and recipes that reflected her friends’ individual interests. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and visiting with family and friends.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 200 S. West Ave., La Crosse. Rev. Bruce Iverson will officiate.
