Jeff Jon Muellenberg, 49, of Cashton passed away peacefully at home on July 18, 2025, with his wife by his side, after courageously fighting glioblastoma brain cancer for the last 26 months.

He lived an honorable life, exemplifying honesty, loyalty and perseverance. He will be remembered as a kindhearted, gentle man who was a true friend to all who knew him. His smile was warm and genuine with eyes that sparkled.

Coming into the world on Jan. 18, 1976, Jeff was the first of three sons born to Jerome and Lana (Hutchens) Muellenberg. Jeff took the role of older brother very seriously and showed his brothers the importance of doing everything to the best of their ability. His brothers, Jason and Matt, looked up to him as their mentor and hero. Jeff grew up on a dairy farm outside of Norwalk, Wis., and from an early age played sports with his brothers in the front yard of his family’s home. He attended Brookwood School, where he naturally excelled in sports, formed a love of baseball and qualified for state in cross country.  He graduated in 1994 and then attended Western Technical College in La Crosse, where he earned a degree in Agri-Business and Science Technology. After college, he returned home and worked for the Wilton Cooperative as well as on his family farm, where he milked cows and tended the rolling hills alongside his parents. A farmer throughout his whole life, Jeff appreciated the solitude of working the land and the gratification of the day’s work done.

Jeff enjoyed watching sports and was a devout Packers, Brewers and Badgers fan. He loved to go snowmobiling when he had more free time in the winter months. In the summer, Jeff played in the Melvina men’s softball league where he made countless memories with his closest friends and his brothers. Everyone enjoyed watching Jeff play because of his athleticism and grace as he rounded the bases. Softball brought him a lot of enjoyment, and it was also where he met his wife, Becky Simonson.

Jeff and Becky were married on Sept. 26, 2009, and soon after, they purchased farms in the Cashton area. Jeff loved to farm and worked tirelessly, managing and expanding their dairy and beef operations alongside his wife. Jeff and Becky welcomed two beautiful children into their lives, Jaxon Jon in 2010 and Evelyn Ann in 2018. Jeff was a very proud father. He loved to watch Jaxon compete in football, wrestling, and baseball. They treasured simple things like playing catch and going deer hunting together. It gave Jeff great peace and pride to watch Jaxon develop more of an interest in farming these past couple of years, operating the equipment he couldn’t anymore. Jeff beamed while holding his little princess, Evelyn. She was the apple of his eye, and he cherished their time together.

Due to Jeff’s busy life on the farm, socializing with friends and family was an indulgence, so he always tried to be present for conversations. He took the time to talk and was interested in what they had going on. Jeff will be missed by many, but especially his wife, Becky; and their children, Jaxon and Evelyn; his parents, Jerry and Lana Muellenberg; and his brothers, Jason (Jenny) Muellenberg and Matt (Krystal) Muellenberg. He was a much-loved son-in-law to Tom and Geri Simonson and brother-in-law to Katie (Joey) Mashak, Rachel Schroeder and Diane Simonson. Jeff was a wonderful uncle to Ella, Lily, Amelia, Chase, Grant, Clara, Madaline, Mitchell, Dominick, Preston, Carter, and Levi, as well as cousin, nephew and dear friend to so many special people.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward and Virginia Muellenberg and Larry (Pete) and Betty Hutchens.

The family would like to invite you to join them on Saturday, Aug. 2, for a meal and time of remembrance at the Cashton Community Hall from 12–5 p.m. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Cashton is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be offered at www.torkelsonfuneralhome.com
