Jeannette M. Liersch, 92, of Sparta passed away at her Bridge Path apartment in Sparta on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012. She was born in Viroqua on Sept. 21, 1920, to John and Celia Wood.
She enjoyed a rewarding career running her own restaurant for many years, working at Northern Engraving, and finishing up the last 20 years, until age 90, working at Walmart.
She was very active in community organizations, such as the Professional Women’s Club, Garden Club, Lions and Butterfest. She organized the Miss Sparta pageant, serving as chairman for many years. She was a past president of AARP.
Jeannette is survived by her son, Wynn (Joyce) Capps of Fort Worth, Texas, and her daughter, Wanda (Ron) Gasper of Sparta; seven grandchildren, Heather (Rob) Drager, Wryan (Stephanie) Capps, Derek (Connie) Capps, Aaron (Rachel) Capps, Lori Capps, Rhonda Phillips and Christel Gasper; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, Willis Capps and Erwin Liersch.
