Glenn Morris Muehlenkamp, 80, of Norwalk passed away Friday, May 9, 2014, in the Gundersen Medical Center in La Crosse after a valiant fight with cancer.
Glenn was born June 6, 1933, on the family farm on Summit Ridge to Leo and Ella (Von Haden) Muehlenkamp. He was united in holy matrimony to Helen Jane “Jenny” Schmitz at St. Mary’s Ridge Catholic Church on June 23, 1954. Very early in their relationship, Jenny discovered the way to his heart was through his stomach. Together they raised their family and farmed outside of Norwalk.
Glenn was one of the original Norwalk Tractor Pullers, loyal to the International red. Hunting was his favorite season. He not only played ball the majority of his life, but also taught all of his kids to play, too. Many friendships were formed through his Yamaha snowmobile business and countless hours spent in the shop. Yet he and Jenny still found time to visit the casino, and his luckiest day was bringing home a new Cadillac. Glenn was content and happy on his farm, but he did enjoy the trip he earned to Japan to tour the Yamaha factory.
Glenn is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Jenny, and nine children, 26 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: a daughter, Chris (Jerome) Leland of Norwalk and their children, Kari Leis (Mike O’Rourke) and her daughter, Kaylee, and Staci Leland (Perry West) and her daughter, Shelby; a son, Mike (Jill) Muehlenkamp of Norwalk; a daughter, Mary (Jerry) Nading of Sparta and their children, Dan (Bobbi) Nading, and their children, Hudson and Sawyer, Jared (Kimberly) Nading, Brennan Nading (Andrea Hedrick) and Aleatra Nading (Casey Olson); a daughter, Patty (Jeff) Anderson of Sparta and their children, Darrin Anderson (Sara Peterson), Tori (Tyler) Erickson, Kelsey Anderson (Brandon Flock) and Jenna Anderson; a daughter, Kathy (Scott) Nelson of Norwalk and their children, Zachary, Jeremy and Briana Nelson; a daughter, Sheri (Mike) Flock, Norwalk and their children, Amy (Victor) Wyttenbach and their daughter, Alayna, Emily Flock, Anna Flock, Eric (Alexis Brandau) Flock and daughter Addilynn, and Ryan Flock; a son, Jon (Jana) Muehlenkamp of Norwalk and their children, Kolin and Kendra Muehlenkamp; a son, Tom (Kathy) Muehlenkamp of Norwalk and their children, Weston, Maggie, Ruby and Reagan Muehlenkamp; and a daughter, Beth (Dari) Nateghi, Delavan and their children, Nadia and Cyrus Nateghi. He is also survived by a niece, Linda (Robert) Baker, and the “Farm Manager,” Doug “Koolaid” Seekamp.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Ella; a stepfather, Lloyd Dreier; and a sister and brother-in-law, Adeline (Linus) Heilman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 12, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Norwalk. Father Michael Klos will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery across from Glenn’s farm.
