Gjefle: Upside down

By PASTOR MICHAEL T. GJEFLE

Faith Independent Baptist Church, Ontario

Acts 17:6 — “These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also.”

This was the accusation from individuals in unbelief against the missionary Paul and those who traveled with him. Paul would write of the Thessalonian believers that they had “turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God” (1 Thessalonians 1:9).

We have entered the Christmas season. Jesus Christ left the glories of Heaven to be born of a virgin in Bethlehem so that God as human flesh could suffer and die for your sins and mine. With His stripes, we could be healed (or forgiven). He seeks to save us from our sin and turn our hearts to live right-side up before God.

The missionary Paul and those who traveled with him preached salvation through Jesus Christ the Messiah. As they believed in Jesus Christ as Savior, some who looked at their lives said they had been turned upside down, yet in reality they had been turned right-side up with God.

There is only one way to be right with the God of Heaven, and that is real, saving faith in Jesus Christ as Savior. Do you know Him who came as Emmanuel (which means “God with us”)? Oh, some may look at believing in Jesus Christ as being “upside down,” but is ONLY by believing in Him as our Savior that we are right-side up with Almighty God. How about you?
