I am borrowing a thought from evangelist Gipsy Smith, who preached in the late 1800s and the early 1900s. He was a real gypsy who, along with most of his family, was saved by the grace of God in his youth. In his preaching, he emphasized how the Lord Jesus Christ was and still is the seeking Savior.

Luke 19:10 says, “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

Outside of God’s forgiveness, found only in faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, mankind is lost and perishing. In our pride, we hesitate to grasp that our salvation cannot be found in our religion and good works but ONLY as we grasp our spiritual need as a LOST sinner seeking what ONLY God can give and do.

Religion says do, but God tells us of what He has DONE for us in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ. Have you grasped the reality the Easter season?

II Corinthians 5:21 — “For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.”

The Holy Spirit of God continues to seek to bring the seeking sinner (any of us) to come to know the seeking Savior (the Lord Jesus Christ) and God’s forgiveness found only in Him. That eternal transaction is called the new birth. How wonderful to grasp the seeking Savior and to trust Him as a seeking sinner, and then to follow Him with our life, however long or short our earthly lives!

John 10:27 — “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”
