Gjefle: Plug the right cord in!

By MICHAEL T. GJEFLE

Faith Independent Baptist Church, Ontario

Recently, on one of our cool November mornings, it occurred to me that I had not plugged in the heat tape on our water system in the barn. Frozen pipes and water problems are avoidable with proper methods, so I made certain that that morning I did plug in the heat tape. Well, the light on the heat tape cord did not come on. What was wrong? As I further investigated my situation, I realized that near my plug in, there were two electric cords, and I had plugged in the wrong cord. I corrected my mistake and plugged in the right cord. The light came on, and now, hopefully, we will not have frozen pipes in our barn. We cannot expect the right results if we do the wrong thing!

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

Peter spoke this to the righteous of his day, as they were grieved as he preached through Jesus Christ salvation and forgiveness of sin. Are you plugged into that simple yet profound truth?

John 14:6 — “Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

For us as a nation and as individuals, we cannot expect the blessings and favor of the God of Heaven if we disobey and dishonor His truth as revealed in His Word, the Bible. Psalm 9:17 — “The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.”

I was sincere in my actions in plugging the first cord in, yet I was sincerely wrong. We are to study God’s Word and “rightly divide the word of truth” (II Timothy 2:15). Do you? If you don’t, why not get a Bible and begin today to study God’s Word for yourself.
