Acts 1:3 — “To whom also he (the Lord Jesus Christ) shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.”
Our Savior suffered as the Lamb of God on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day alive from the grave.
Have you grasped for yourself “that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man” (Hebrews 2:9)? Only He can forgive our sin, only He can give eternal life, and only He is the Good Shepherd who can save and satisfy us for all eternity. How wonderful to know His forgiveness and see His shepherding care upon our lives.
The song “Because He Lives” came from Bill and Gloria Gaither in 1971 after a trying time in their lives involving difficulty and the birth of their son Benjamin. Amidst that time, God refreshed them by the truth of our Savior, alive from the grave and living to care for His own. They wrote the following of their newborn baby boy:
“How sweet to hold our newborn baby
And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still, the calm assurance —
This child can face uncertain days because He (Jesus) lives.”
The brightest hope for us, our children, and generations to come is Jesus Christ … to know Him, His Word, His promises, and His presence. Do you? You can trust Him for now and for all eternity.
