George Riley Bolint, 88, formerly of the rural Ontario and Mauston, Wis., areas, passed away peacefully at 11:48 Sunday morning on Aug. 18, 2024, at Pheasants Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care in Saint Peter, Minn.

He was born Dec. 24, 1935, the son of William and Bernice (Randles) Bolint in the town of Kickapoo, Vernon County, Wis. George graduated from the Hillsboro High School in 1954, lettering in football. As a young man, he enjoyed fast cars, motorcycles, fine clothing, playing the accordion, and ballroom dancing. 

George lived in Kenosha for many years, where he was employed as an auto worker with the American Motors Corporation. Following retirement, he settled on an 80-acre farm at South Ridge near Ontario, Wis. He spent many years meticulously restoring his century-old farm to one of the most beautiful properties in Vernon County. He planted and maintained an extensive orchard with row after row of the most gorgeous blueberries, raspberries, and many other varieties of fruit. George had a passion for vintage farm tractors, flywheel engines, and old implements. He rebuilt and maintained a beautiful collection of a wide variety of old machines. His eye for quality and mechanical abilities, coupled with an analytical mind and a high degree of creativity, enabled him to accomplish anything he set his mind to.

Survivors include his son, Steve (Betsy) Bolint; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Martha Shaker and Nancy Kurz.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary (John) Leist.

Graveside funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, at Manning Cemetery on County Highway S in rural Readstown, Wis. Pastor Mike Gjefle will preside.
