Gary L. Gardner, 62, of Elroy passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at his home, surrounded with family.

He was born July 13, 1951, to Edward and Georgia (Vinopal) Gardner in Mauston. Gary served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1972 in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Gary was united in marriage to Ellen Weger on June 15, 1974, in Elroy. He worked for Walkers Stainless Equipment for 37 years and more recently at Sprinkman. He enjoyed being outside, feeding the deer and birds, old cars, the Packers and Badgers and reading his newspaper. 

Survivors include his wife, Ellen of Elroy; three daughters, Heidi Gardner of Madison, Mandy Gardner of Kailua, Hawaii, and Becky (Brent) Olsen of Tomah; one grandson, Gavin; two brothers, Tom (Char) Gardner of Mauston and Mike (Dawn) Gardner of Mauston; a sister, Ruthann (Wil) Beaver of Tomah; and many other family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at United Methodist Church in Elroy, with Rev. PyungAhn “Peace” Kim and Father Richard Dickman officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Elroy City Cemetery in Elroy.
