Gary E. Markee, 70, of rural Ontario passed away Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse.

Gary was born May 13, 1939, in Ontario to Raymond and Florence (Peck) Markee. Gary was a self-employed entrepreneur with a knack for finding different enterprises. He had a golden gift to gab with anyone who happened to cross paths with him.

Gary is survived by his wife Johanne of rural Ontario; his children, Abbie (Robert) Hubble of Greenfield, Tenn., Amy Markee of Neptune, N.J., Tracie Markee of Boynton Beach, Fla., April (Ted) Steiger of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Cole (Sara) Markee of Twin Lakes, Wis.; his brothers and sisters, William (Teresa) Markee of Janesville, Marcia Regan of California, Alan Markee of Greenfield, Wis., Monica Stier of Janesville, Danny (Joanne) Markee of Rhinelander, Wis., and Brian Markee of Chicago; his grandchildren, RJ and Zachery Hubble, Charalette (Adan) Vazquez, Lauren Engelbrecht, and Mason and Cade Markee; his great-grandchildren, Maggie Hubble, Maria, Jacqualine and Brendyn Vazquez; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and good friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Florence.

Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 16, at Mount Pisgah Wesleyan Church, Ontario. Pastor Bob Streeter officiated. The Torkelson Funeral Home in Ontario assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be offered at www.torkelsonfuneralhome.com.
