G. William “Bill” Seaman, 85, of Colona, Ill., died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Ill., after a short and courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Coal Valley Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.

Bill was born on May 28, 1930, in Vernon County, the son of Claude V. and Leah S. Bickel Seaman. He married Shirley Irene Miller on Sept. 3, 1955, at First Congregational Church in Hillsboro. He worked as an ironworker for the Iron Workers Local 111 in Rock Island, Ill., where he was a lifetime member. Bill proudly served in the National Guard.

Bill attended Christ Church of the Quad Cities in Colona. He enjoyed dancing and watching high school sports. He was a true craftsman and loved working on houses. Bill especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his children, Bonita (Michael) Ullrich of Wickenburg, Ariz., Vernon (Sarah) Seaman of Owasso, Okla., Carl Seaman of Tallulah Falls, Ga., Nancy (E. Kent) Pope of Williamsburg, Iowa, and Lee (Amanda) Seaman of Colona, Ill.; his grandchildren, Sarah, David, Christa, Jason, Nathan, Benjamin, Daniel, Ashley, Jesse, Arielle, Katie, Will, Parker, Jonathan, Amanda, Rebecca, Ethan, Tyler and Katlyn; 10 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Duane (Darlene) Seaman of Walker, Iowa, and Beulah Mae Seaman of Williamsburg, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Virginia Nelson of Geneseo, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley; and his granddaughter, Katie.
