Fred Arthur “Bud” Eick Jr., aged 84, of rural Ontario, Wis., passed away in a farming accident on Sept. 27, 2024. Born on Dec. 12, 1939, in Denver, Iowa, to the late Fredrick Henry Eick Sr. and Leota Minnie Niemeyer.

In June 1961, he married Mary Maloy, and together they welcomed four children into the world. Although their paths later diverged, Fred’s commitment to his family never wavered.

He is survived by his children, Jeff (Mary Lou) Eick of Denver, Colo., Linda (Bryan) Call of Westby, Betty (Eric) Olson of La Crosse, and Kathy (David) Clark of Westby. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Ted, Jason (Cassandra), Jennifer, Josh (Christina), Justin (Rachel), Brittany (Matthew), Taylor, Kyle (Angie), and Ryan, as well as his great-grandchildren, Waylon, Olivia, Luella, Kolton, Chase, Miles, and Noah. Fred also leaves behind his longtime significant other, Marijean Sebranek, who brought him companionship for 38 years and a coworker in farming in her son, Jeremy Hutchison. (Jeremy and his grandson Jason were crucial partners in maintaining his beloved farm and livestock.)

Fred is further survived by his siblings, Lavonne Barber, Roger (Carol) Eick, Ervin (Tracy) Eick, Shirley (Mike) Mahan, Mervin (Pete) Eick, Debra (Raymond) Mahan, and Daniel Eick. His extended family includes many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Preceding Fred in death were his parents and two brothers, Larry and Carl Eick.

A funeral service for Fred will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Utica Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Fred will be laid to rest at the church cemetery with full military honors. Online condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
