Frances M. Post, 98, of La Crosse died peacefully at her home Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010.
The daughter of Bernard and Minnie (Silbaugh) Von Ruden, Frances was born Aug. 4, 1912, in Westby. She, along with her sister Verna, graduated from Ontario High School. They both attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Madison, and both worked as registered nurses until they married.
Frances married Francis E. Post on Nov. 4, 1939, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cashton, and she and her husband farmed and raised their family in rural Ontario. After her husband died in 1978, she moved to La Crosse.
She is survived by a son, Cyrus (Mary) Post of La Crosse; two daughters, Mary and Ruth; four grandchildren, Nathan (Richelle) Post, Laura (Gary) Clevenger, Brian (Bonnie) Post and Darcy (Brian) Moos; and six great-grandchildren, Luke, Brianna, Megan, Austin, Evan and Zane.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; her parents; her sister, Verna Ritzinger; her brother, Raymond Reed; and an infant brother, John Von Ruden.
A Christian burial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11. Due to construction at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the service will be at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Cashton. Father John Parr will officiate. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cashton or to a charity of their choice. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Cashton is assisting the family with arrangements.
