A UTV crash occurred at about 3:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, in the town of Viroqua, resulting in injuries to four minors, according to Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson

A 14-year-old from rural Viroqua was operating a side-by-side UTV, traveling east on Upper Maple Dale Road and failed to negotiate a curve to the right. The UTV tipped onto its left side and came to rest along the left edge of the roadway.

The operator; a 15-year-old passenger from Steuben, Wis.; a 14-year-old passenger from Gays Mills, Wis.; and a 14-year-old passenger from Soldiers Grove, Wis., were all treated at Vernon Memorial Healthcare in Viroqua. By late Sunday evening, all of the injured were released.

The Viroqua Police Department, Viroqua Fire Department, Viroqua Emergency Medical Responders and two units from Gundersen Tri-State Ambulance responded to the scene as well. Gundersen Air initially was requested but was rerouted to the Viroqua Municipal Airport and later cancelled.

Neither seatbelts nor helmets were in use.

The crash remains under investigation.
